A few of us enjoy seeing Christmas Day in at the strike of midnight! Our annual service when we celebrate Jesus being the 'Light of the World'
A new event for us involved partnering with our local Primary School.
As usual, we enjoyed joining together as a family to remember Christ's birth.
St Margaret's at St Ives for this year's church picnic.
Steve became a Revd and also Curate to St Margaret's and the Shipley Cluster
| There is nothing better than a candlelit Christmas Communion to start Christmas off the right way. A few of us braved the weather and remembered that the baby Jesus born in Bethlehem grew up to be our Saviour on the cross and Calvary. Many more of us came together later on in the day for a party-service to say Happy Birthday to Jesus. |

We are pleased to announce that again this year, no hair was singed and no fingers burnt on the orange-worlds that are called Christingles. Jesus shone as God's light to the world; Jesus' blood poured out for us was symbolised by the red ribbon; and the fruits of the different seasons that God gives us were symbolised by sweets (some which didn't last very long but were happily consumed in the service). Well, God did given us his world to enjoy and his Son to save us. |
| By using actors and symbols and interactive activities, 60 pupils from our local Primary School in Frizinghall had the question answered as what the story is about Christmas. The church building was completely turned upside down into a journey of learning and discovery. See if you can recognise any of the actors! |

This year's Carol Service included some of the young people dancing to a Christmas (non-scary!) version of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. Jamie's vocals will long be remembered in pop history. The young people and children re-told the old Nativity story in a fresh and relevant way and the Vicar burnt his fingers on a magic candle that couldn't be put out (even when he wanted it to go out!). But at least it showed that 'The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not put it out' (John 1:5). |
| For this year, the rain held off and we enjoyed eating together and playing together at St Ives, Bingley. Centre of attention was 'ladderball' a game from the State, though a treasure hunt challenged our mapping and orienteering skills. |

Members of St Margaret's were among the congregation at Bradford Cathedral to support Steve Lees as he was ordained Deacon by the Bishop of Bradford. This marked the beginning of not only Steve's ordained ministry in the Church of England, but also his time based with us at St Margaret's. |
